“We are telling cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants to close tonight, as soon as they reasonably can, and not open tomorrow.”
Luckily, after a week in quarantine, I recovered relatively quickly. The British government on the other hand, seemed to realize that they weren’t doing enough to stop the virus, and that the medical system would soon be overwhelmed. On the weekend when the total number of cases exceeded 3,300, Prime Minister Boris Johnson finally announced, in a very British fashion, to temporarily shut down all restaurants, pubs and other public recreational areas.
“We are telling cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants to close tonight, as soon as they reasonably can, and not open tomorrow.”
Johnson also reminded the public to social distance and not go out unless necessary. However, many couldn’t resist the temptation of nice weathers and headed out anyway, so on March 23, the government had no choice but to announce a 3-week lockdown. By then, the total number of cases has reached 7,000.
