誰說網路稱不上文學？ 瑪格麗特．愛特伍為140字推特文學站台

在網路技術與手機推陳出新的時代，出現簡訊文學與推特文學這樣的東西並不奇怪，而小說與閱讀行為似乎也自然越來越顯精緻短小了，但若說文學的藝術性、可讀性或溝通任務將從此大打折扣，那麼瑪格麗特．愛特伍（Margaret Atwood）大概不同意。
1939年出生的愛特伍，從前網路時代一路寫到現在這個網路四通八達的時代。曾經出版過「反烏托邦」三部曲系列的她，儘管對科技並不抱有多少好感，但卻不反對活用科技，還是一位推特的愛用者，時常利用推特與書迷互動、討論文學、針對議題發表看法，將她的多產面向拓展到網路社群來。
正好愛特伍日前也推出的短篇小說集《石床：九篇故事》（Stone Mattress: Nine Tales，暫譯），成為科技新聞網站 Mashable 經營的社群讀書會 MashableReads 選書。每個月，MahsableReads都會舉行網路讀書會，花一整個月的時間與網友在推特、臉書以及Goodreads討論。
基於愛特伍本身也是推特高度使用者，MashableReads 不但邀請她到紐約辦公室參與這場網路讀書會，利用 Google+ 直播，會前也特別舉辦一場推特小說競賽，請讀者在一則推特140個字的限制下發表極短篇小說，優勝者可得到愛特伍的新書。

愛特伍利用短小而立即的推特，也能自如地將文學與科技、自己與書迷串聯成了一片。已經高齡75的她，不管在線上或線下都依然活躍，對任何一個喜愛文學的現代人來說，都應該是件可喜的事吧。
這或許也說明了，文字與文學藝術終究是不會被時代與媒介所侷限的。
